The problem with dairy products
By
I remember reading two books in the early 90′s that had a huge impact on me regarding dairy products. One was Fit For Life by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond and the other was Unlimited Power by Anthony Robbins. Both of these books had chapters that spoke about how horrible dairy products are for the body and to avoid them at all costs.
Over the years I have mostly been off od dairy products and then I would eat some cheese to see what would happen. Sure enough I got sick. Rashes, allergies, sinus and ear infections, and the list goes on. Below is a summarization on the research i have done on dairy products and why they are not that great for your body
Pasteurization
Pasteurization is a process of heating a food, usually liquid, to a specific temperature for a definite length of time, and then cooling it immediately. Not only is milk loaded with antibiotics, toxins and hormones, but the pasteurization process intended to kill the bad bacteria also destroys the good bacteria and natural enzymes that allow its digestion.
What about Calcium?
Our bodies don’t manufacture the proper enzymes to help our digestive system break down the milk and absorb all its nutrients. Phosphatase, a heat-sensitive enzyme essential for absorption and assimilation of calcium, is destroyed during pasteurization. That 300 mg of calcium per glass won’t end up in your bones. You can get plenty of calcium from dark leafy green vegetables, shellfish and seafood, whole grains, nuts, and legumes.
Dairy Products Side Effects
When I removed dairy products from my diet about 20 years ago I noticed some big changes in my body. Here is a list of the things that went away once I eliminated dairy products:
- Allergies
- Sinus infections
- Ear infections
- Joint problems
- Mucus
- Digestive issues
Milk alternatives
I have found that Almond Milk is a great alternative and I usually mix that with Dale’s Raw Protein. Soy Milk is also popular but I’m not a big fan of soy products for reasons I have explained in previous blog posts. Rice Milk is also another good one although it’s very sweet. Coconut Milk is also one of my favorites and mixes will with raw protein.
